Once you have made the move to your new property, there are several
smaller steps that should be taken care of immediately
Moving is
considered to be one of the most stressful events in a person's life. However,
with the right kind of planning, you can make your move a lot less stressful.
One of the most important things you should keep in mind is to stay organized. A
good way to do so is by using a countdown checklist.
Once you are ready to move,
or shortly thereafter, an important step is transferring your utilities to your
new address.
We have designed this section of our website as to help you with that process.
Please download our Change-of-Address Checklist so you don't forget anything. The following list contains numbers and instructions to
local utility companies such as electricity, gas, phone, cable, satellite, DSL,
Internet, and more.
This is a big
one that many people don't even think about. You can use Form 8822 to
notify the Internal Revenue Service if you changed your home or business mailing
address or location.
5.
Oregon Department of Revenue.
In addition
the federal level, inform the Oregon Department of revenue of your change of
address online at
http://www.oregon.gov (Businesses can change their Status and Address
with this form.)
6.
Last, but not least.
In addition
to changing your address with your utilities, you should also remember to
do the same with your cell phones, credit cards, magazine subscriptions,
financial institutions, and loan programs (auto loans, student loans, etc.).
Please download our
Change-of-Address Checklist so you don't forget anything. In most cases, your most recent
billing statement will have a section where
you can fill in your change of address. (Hint: you can print a sheet of labels
with your new address in Microsoft Word with the Label Wizard-- or give us a
call and we will have them made for you.) If not, call the customer service
number on the statement and give them the information directly.
If you still are pressed for time we recommend you check
out ConnectUtilities.com!
They have taken it one step further and will make the changes for you...the
catch? There could be a small fee involved for the service.
